Here is some useful and important information for the weekend 🙂
Accommodation
We booked hotel rooms for you at Hotel Motel One Berlin-Mitte, HERE including breakfast! It’s a 5 minute walk to the workshop venue, TAK. (google map here)
Check-in: March 5th from 3:00 PM
Check-out: March 9th until 12:00 PM
Breakfast: 6:00 - 10:00 AM Weekdays and 7:00 - 11:00 AM Weekends
HOW TO GET TO THE HOTEL
Please contact Tess if you need any help. Under some circumstances we will order an Uber, but we prefer to use the BVG public transportation system.
WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
Circle = Intermediate
Triangle = Intermediate Advanced
Square = Advanced
Cross = Invitational "Black Belt"
LEVEL CHECK
We have volunteers who will be checking the wristbands to make sure that everyone is in the correct level. If the students are uncomfortable with their level, only you the teachers have the power to bump them up or down a level. Mette will provide you with the new wristbands.
LUNCH
You will have the option to eat with us everyday at TAK. The days you have two classes instead of one, you will only have 50 minutes to eat. We will pre-order food everyday, and even if you don’t have two classes, you are welcome to stay after your classes are over, or come early before your classes start for lunch. We will eat together with Mette at the workshop venue.
Tess will make a poll with lunch options every morning in the teacher group chat.
THURSDAY NIGHT
We made a reservation for the Teachers & Team for a welcome dinner HERE at Max & Moritz, a wonderful old-school German restaurant 400 meters from the hotel.
19:30 Pre-drink with Tess in the lobby (non-mandatory)
20:00 Dinner with BBW team members
21:30 We will take taxis to Peter Edel for the party!
FRIDAY NIGHT
We made a reservation for the Teachers & Team for dinner HERE at Fukagawa, a Japanese ramen restaurant 300 meters from the hotel.

22:00 We will take taxis to Tangoloft for the party!
There will be a teacher snowball around midnight, after the first song of the second set of the band. Our MC will call you to the front of the stage and announce your names, and the 6 of you will start dancing and then snowballing.
Shortly after this, there will be a midnight snack, and pretzels will be delivered and found upstairs at the venue.
SATURDAY NIGHT
Saturday night we decided that everyone should choose where they want to go for dinner. We won’t have a planned dinner. There are plenty of bars & restaurants close to the hotel and Tangoloft (formally known as Bebop)
If you want to have a pre-kitschy drink at a VERY kitschy bar, Tess recommends to check out Roses, which is 850 meters from the hotel HERE.
At Tangoloft, there will be the long thank you speech, which we try to keep as short as possible, followed by a teacher performance, where you get to shine in the spotlight. This performance will be filmed. This happens usually around midnight as well.
Shortly after this, there will be a midnight snack, and pizza will be delivered.
I would try to stick around until at least 2:30 am, because there will be a funny surprise!
SILK SCREEN PRINTING
Saturday night between 22:00 - 02:00, you can get t-shirts or bags silk screen printed at Tangoloft. Teachers & Team each get one print for free. Any additional prints cost 5€. If you don’t bring your own t-shirt or bag and want something, please arrive at 21:30 in the backroom to pick something for sale. They run out fast!
This year, the paint color choices are pink & white.
SUNDAY EVENING
The cozy cool down party starts right after the last classes on Sunday. We will once again pre-order food from Mikoto Sushi HERE and Tess will take orders in the teacher chat.

19:30 Sushi Take-Out Dinner with BBW team members
23:00 Party ends, and we all go to the after-party at Crack Bellmer. (mandatory :P)
SOCIAL DANCING
We ask you to please encourage the students to try dancing with at least 3 people they have never danced with each evening! Also, more advanced dancers in particular should be encouraged to dance with dancers of all levels. Our event is highly social dance orientated, and we would be very happy if you can help us spread our values as they are essential to the spirit of Berlin Balboa Weekend!

OTHER IMPORTANT INFO
When you want to go home, we will we order you a taxi. Please go in groups, and not each one individually. :-)
The night manager of the Venue will take care of drink vouchers and taxis.
If you don’t join us for lunch or dinner, we are happy to reimburse lunches up to 20€ and dinners up to 25€. Please add these amounts to your invoices and remember to save your receipts!
